Since the Farm Bill bill was signed in 2018, hemp and hemp-derived products are no longer subject to Schedule 1 status. The effort from the masses and continuous push in the legalization of medical marijuana encouraged advocates to also push for the legalization of cannabis in other states.
Since a lot of people are still confused about which CBD products are legally allowed, it would be best to know the difference between the two. This will give you a better understanding of how each product is used without seeking the advice of professionals.
Premium Hemp vs. CBD
Hemp is a variety of the cannabis Sativa plant, widely cultivated for industrial purposes. It has a tough vast fiber, edible seeds, and oil. Compared to cannabis, cultivated hemp has very low levels of the psychoactive substance tetrahydrocannabinol or THC.
Cannabidiol or CBD is a chemical compound from the cannabinoid family. It is one of over 100+ types of cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant.
While further studies are still required to prove the medical benefits of using CBD, some countries have been adding the substance as an ingredient for antidepressants. Since it became a popular commodity, some large manufacturers have started using Hemp-derived sources to make various products whenever a spike in demand occurs. This is also a part of their effort in making premium hemp products while remaining compliant with what is considered legal federal law.
CBD oil can also be extracted from hemp plants that are specifically cultivated to have high CBD content. This cultivated variety only contains trace amounts of THC (which may cause the user to feel euphoric or high).
Unlike THC, CBD does not change an individual’s mindstate when introduced into the body. In fact, some researchers have already noted that CBD intake may reduce feelings of anxiety, pain, insomnia, and other symptoms related to substance use disorder.
